Milman Road residents were surprised in early August 2018 when Reading Borough Council (RBC) put up a notice at the west end of the road saying they proposed to permanently ban parking there.
New Christ Church primary school first opened its doors to pupils on 14 July 1868 and on 14 July 2018 they celebrated with a summer fair.

Milman Road Health Centre will get a new website on 9 May. Health centre manager Anne-Marie Dykes said that the new website will allow greater online interaction with the practice and help to reduce telephone traffic. She added that it will allow patients to communicate with the health centre when it suits them and the practice will aim to answer questions within two working days.
Lloyds pharmacy at the Milman Road Health Centre does an excellent job for the community. However, the deliveries, which are not controlled by the local manager, are becoming a danger to people using the road.
Earlier this year the New Christ Church Primary School entered a competition run by Redcliffe Imaging Ltd, a Bristol-based company who produce wall murals. As part of the entry, the school explained that, with their 150th anniversary coming up, they would really love to have a copy of the 1880 map of Reading which showed the school and its surrounding area.
The burglar alarm that woke Milman Road residents in the early hours of 20 October was caused by a faulty door, said Lloyds Pharmacy manager Liv Johal. No burglary took place.
Mick Jagger was not the only musical luminary to grace Milman Road. Musician Rob Rose, who died in 2014, lived on the road from 2012.
A parking suspension will be in force outside 10-14 Milman Road for three days from Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 July.
Heavy rain during the evening of 18 July quickly led to rising water levels at the west end of Milman Road which threatened to enter properties, including the playground of New Christ Church primary school.
