Reading Mayor councillor Debs Edwards rang the bell of the George Palmer School after a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Palmer Academy on Monday 18 June. The Northumberland Road academy is the successor to the George Palmer School which opened in 1907.

Milman Road Health Centre will get a new website on 9 May. Health centre manager Anne-Marie Dykes said that the new website will allow greater online interaction with the practice and help to reduce telephone traffic. She added that it will allow patients to communicate with the health centre when it suits them and the practice will aim to answer questions within two working days.
