One of the long-standing traditions at Reading Bowling Club on Kendrick Road has been the annual President versus Captain match. This has always been a prestigious occasion, with not only a hard fought competition between the two teams on the green, but with a social occasion afterwards.
Inflatable doo-dah at south Reading leisure centre
The swimming pool at South Reading Leisure Centre on Northumberland Avenue re-opened this February after four months’ closure, during which Reading Borough Council (RBC) refurbished its lighting, air conditioning and water heaters.

Whitley Amateur Boxing Club is right at the heart of Whitley, both in location and spirit. In just three years, a lot of hard work from locals has seen this small hall in Callington Road transformed into a hub of community boxing and exercise activity that is well equipped and staffed. The place is packed to the rafters with talented fighters, hopefuls and enthusiasts, six days of the week.
Arthur Hill Baths, the heritage swimming pool on the Park and Redlands ward borders and the nearest swimming pool to the Whitley Pump, is open for voluntary sector bids until 21 March 2018.
