Phoenix College is considering relocation from Christchurch Road to the Hamilton Centre off Bulmershe Road. There will be a consultation and exhibition on the proposed plans on Thursday 12 September from 3.30pm to 6.30pm in the community room at Alfred Sutton Primary School.
Phoenix College is an SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) special school for 64 students with education health care plans. OFSTED rated it inadequate in November 2018 and put it into special measures.
The school is considering becoming a trust and improving facilities by a relocation to new premises at the Hamilton Centre. The former childrens’ centre was approved for disposal at the Reading Borough Council policy committee in February 2018 as part of the council’s property rationalisation programme.
The Whitley Pump have been told that parents of children at Phoenix College, staff, school governors and residents in the vicinity of the proposed new centre have been invited. A formal planning application will be submitted in due course.
