Mount Pleasant plot cleaned up after a community protection notice issued

Katesgrove councillor Rose Williams obtained a community protection notice for the vacant plot on Mount Pleasant in Reading, not far from the Pheasant pub, to be cleaned up and secured.

The privately-owned site has been vacant and neglected since at least 2007. It had been used for fly-tipping and was a home for rats. The rubbish and rats’ nests have now been removed, the site cleared, boarded off and secured.

The cost of the work has been paid for by the site owner.

[Correction 4 June 2019: We said the plot was on Solver Street, but it’s actually on Mount Pleasant which is a continuation of Silver Street.]
