4 December – Reading Register Office opens in the Civic Offices

From today, 4 December, all birth, death, marriage and nationality enquiries and appointment bookings will be managed at the Civic Offices on Bridge Street. These services have all moved from Yeomanry House on Castle Hill which was sold earlier this year.

Weddings and citizenship ceremonies are moving to the Town Hall. The first weddings will take place on Saturday 8 December and the first citizenship ceremonies on Wednesday 12 December.

Reading Borough Council say:

The move is part of Reading Council’s drive to make the best possible use of its buildings, to help reduce running costs and contribute to closing its budget gap through the sale of buildings, as well as providing better services to residents.
