Whitfest, part of Aspire2 and the Whitley excellence cluster, has launched a new Whitfest showcase to celebrate groups and people who have contributed to the Whitley community. Public nominations need to submitted by 18 November 2018 and the winners will be announced in February 2019.
The WhitFest showcase award categories are:
- community group of the year,
- business support of the year,
- volunteer of the year,
- community citizen of the year,
- lifetime achievement award,
- young inspiration,
- young artist,
- young volunteer,
- young Whitley citizen,
- open award (recognition).
Nominations should be for hidden community champions who help make Whitley a better place to be. Nominations are judged by Whitley residents as well as community and business representatives, but can be made by anybody.
Winners will be announced at a Whitley showcase event at the Whitley Community Hub on Northumberland Avenue, Reading, in February 2019. Artists as individuals or groups, in bands, choirs, theatre groups, school arts groups etc, may be able to perform or exhibit at the showcase event; you can express your interest using the online form.
