Reading Town Meal on 29 September

This year’s Reading Town Meal will take place on Saturday 29 September from 12 noon until 4pm in Forbury Gardens. The free lunch, cooked by Reading College students with local vegetables and fruit, will be served to about 1,000 people.

The menu comprises roasted vegetable allotment ragout with salad and bread, as the main course and for dessert, fruit compote with granola topping.

Surplus produce from allotments and gardens can be accepted at several collection points across Reading. The main centre is at the Orts Road delivery area of Reading College on Monday 24 September from 10am to 2pm for fruit and vegetables, and at the same times on Tuesday 27 September for salads. For other places where donations are accepted, including RISC on London Street, see the Reading Town Meal website for more details.

Vegetables grown at Lavender Place, the new community gardens where the Civic Offices were, will be used in the meal.
