Twinned with the Whitley Pump – Pebble Lane pump, Aylesbury

Pebble Lane, Aylesbury

This cast iron pump on Pebble Lane in Aylesbury is 10 feet tall and supplied water to the centre of the town. Pebble Lane is the street at the back of the Buckinghamshire County Museum.

The height of this pump makes it more suitable for filling water carts than buckets and other domestic vessels.

It is grade II listed (1160342) and was installed in about 1840. A plaque on the wall next to it was placed there in Environment Week in 1990 by the Aylesbury Society and the Bucks Archaeological Society.

Aylesbury is also the location of the first statue of David Bowie.
