Progress Theatre bake-off on 12 May to raise funds for car park

The Progress Theatre on Christchurch Road host a charity bake-off from 3pm until 6pm on Saturday 12 May to raise money to improve its car park.

The event is being organised and chaired by two of the theatre’s members, Iona Rottmann and Cara Broadhurst, who are both keen bakers.

Judges include Laura Mariel Gonzalez from Nomad Bakery in Caversham and Sam from Samantha Alexander. Other local baking groups like Free Cake for Kids Reading have been invited to attend and advertise at the event.

Competititors can enter any number of categories in the competition:

  1. signature bake: a sweet or savoury bread that reflects your personal tastes,
  2. technical: 12 identical iced biscuits or cookies on a theme of your own,
  3. showstopper: a drama-themed cake.

Tickets are limited and cost £10 whether you would like to be a contestant or if you just want to watch and sample the results. Competition winners get a prize.
