Remembrance days 2017 & 1947 in pictures

The Mayor, Katesgrove councillor Rose Williams, laid a wreath at the Forbury war memorial on Saturday 11 November following the two minutes silence at 11am.

A small crowd had gathered on a damp and drizzly morning to observe the ceremony and some people laid their own wreaths and poppies after the Mayor.

Wreaths at the Trooper Potts memorial

Wreaths were also laid at the Trooper Potts memorial in the Forbury. Trooper Potts lived on Edgehill Street in Katesgrove and had attended Katesgrove School.

The weather was probably even worse 70 years ago when Mayor Phoebe Cusden laid her mayoral wreath on Remembrance Sunday 1947.
