Reading Community Energy Society (RCES) is a not-for-profit social enterprise founded in 2016 to establish community-owned renewable energy facilities in the Reading area. They are looking for owners and users of large buildings in the town who would like renewable energy facilities installed.
RCES is looking for buildings within a radius of 10 miles from the centre of Reading. The most suitable buildings are likely to be schools, colleges, offices, museums, medical centres, care homes and leisure centres, as well as commercial buildings such as factories, technology centres and retail stores.
RCES will purchase and install renewable energy facilities, such as solar panels, at no cost to the owner or user of the buildings, and the building owner or tenant can buy electricity at a preferential price.
Suitable buildings will have a south-east or south-west facing unshaded roof of more than 100m2 which is strong enough to support solar panels.
