Easter at Christ Church, Reading

Holy week is the week leading up to Easter. It starts with Palm Sunday, which this year is 9 April, and lasts until Easter day, Sunday 16 April. Christ Church on Christchurch Road will be holding special services during this week.

Christ Church Reading is part of the Church of England diocese of Oxford and they hold regular services on Sundays and Tuesdays which are in our calendar.

In addition to church services, they will be hosting a concert on Sunday 23 April at 6pm featuring the Cornish Pelynt Male Choir. Tickets cost £5 and are available on the door, or by booking in advance through 0118 931 3468.


Easter services at Christ Church

Palm Sunday, 9 April

8am – eucharist,
10am – sung eucharist with blessing of palms,
6pm – choral evensong.

Monday 10 April

7pm – eucharist for healing with anointing.

Tuesday 11 April

10am – eucharist,
7pm – Iona stations of the cross.

Wednesday 12 April

10am – eucharist,
7pm – Tenebrae.

Maundy Thursday, 13 April

7pm – eucharist with foot washing.

Good Friday, 14 April

12 noon to 3pm – reflections on the cross.

Holy Saturday, 15 April

8pm – service of light and Easter vigil.

Easter Day, Sunday 16 April

8am – eucharist,
10am – sung eucharist,
6pm – choral evensong.

Good Friday, 14 April, and Easter Monday, 17 April, will be  bank holidays.
