The school, which opened on 14 July 1868, is appealing to former pupils and others who may have memorabilia, photographs or stories about the school that they would be willing to contribute as part of the commemorations.
The logo for the anniversary is pictured above.
On the day it opened the school had a separate boys’ and girls’ school with 32 and 36 pupils respectively. More pupils joined over the first weeks so that by the end of July, the school had 68 boys and 79 girls in the classes.
Now known as New Christ Church CE Primary School, it has over 200 pupils.
