Reading Borough Council Older People’s Working Group

The first 2017 meeting of Reading Borough Council’s Older People’s Working Group will take place on Friday 3 February from 2-4pm.

Katesgrove councillor Rose Williams is on the working group which is chaired by councillor Gul Khan.

The agenda includes a presentation from Doug Buchanan of the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) about a consultation on proposed changes to the service.

RBFRS say:

This consultation will focus on changes we need to make to our prevention, protection and response work in order to save £2.4 million by April 2020. The response proposals contain a set of options, each of which would create required savings in the region of £1.4 million.

Whitley councillor Rachel Eden is vice chair of the committee, as well as lead councillor for adult social care, and councillors Chris Maskell and Sandra Vickers are also on it.

The group is open to anyone interested in the development of services for older people, including residents, voluntary sector organisations and community groups.

The meeting will take place in the Council Chamber, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading RG1 2LU.

If you would like to attend please phone on 0118 937 2383 or email opwg@reading.gov.uk.
