Have your say on the closure of Reading children’s centres

By Jason Hilbourne.

Reading Borough Council (RBC) is asking for opinions from the public on its proposed remodelling of children’s centres. The feedback from this consultation will be considered by councillors in spring 2017.

The consultation document sets out the proposal for remodelling Reading’s children’s centres for families with children under 5 years.

Cuts in central government funding and increased demands on services mean that RBC needs to make savings of £40 million by 2020, with a proposed cut of £400 thousand from the children’s centre budget.

The consultation is open until Wednesday 29 March 2017.
