Tom Cartmill’s open studio

By Gillian Tunley.

The acclaimed Katesgrove artist Tom Cartmill, who recently exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show, extended his generous hospitality to us at his open studio event last weekend at the idyllic rural studio location of Amners Farm, Burghfield.

The beautiful open plan oak beamed space was a perfect setting for his work and we were by turns mesmerised by his powerful monochrome canvases and enchanted by his magical web theme, which radiated tranquillity and joy. His delicate prints delighted and his bold textured canvases invigorated us.

It is no surprise that Tom is fast becoming a luminary in the world of art. We wish him every success on his creative journey and are already looking forward to his next event.
