Anybody want a phone box?

British Telecom (BT) are planning to decommission rarely used phone boxes around the town and have invited interested groups to adopt their local box after disconnection.

The nearest threatened phone box to Katesgrove is the one in the picture, outside Lidl on Basingstoke Road.

Former phone boxes have been used as defibrillator stations, information booths and art galleries, and both the Emmer Green Residents’ Association and the Caversham and District Residents Association have expressed interest in adopting boxes under threat in their area.

BT’s consultation period ends on 6 January 2017.
