Katesgrove Christmas Fair gets international

The Katesgrove Community Association (KCA) will hold its Christmas Fair on Saturday 10 December, from 12 noon until 3pm at Waterloo Meadows Children’s Centre, off Elgar Road.

The KCA would like to impart an international theme to the fair this year and have invited the community to set up each stall in a different national tradition.

“Katesgrove is an increasingly diverse area, but we are all united in celebrating a common holiday period over Christmas,” said Abby Knowles, KCA chair. “Everyone has their own special traditions, and we thought it would be nice to give people a chance to see and share those little things which make our holidays happy or bring back childhood memories.”

“I would also love a choir or dance troupe who could do traditional dances and songs from different countries.”

The fair will also include a Santa, and a Victorian café selling tea and cakes.

Money raised from the fair will go towards supporting KCA activities including community projects and social groups.

“We would really love to set up a new group in the next few months,” said Abby Knowles. “If there is something residents would like us to start, it would be great to hear about it and we will do our best.”

“We look forward to meeting you and learning all about your memories, traditions, and favourite things associated with the season.”
