Vegetable and salad donations required for the Reading Town Meal

Famous in Forbury - that would be me?

The Reading Town Meal, which will take place on Saturday 1 October in Forbury Gardens, has already received some gifts of produce. The main collection of vegetables and salad donations are being organised for next week.

The main collection of vegetables is taking place tomorrow, Monday 26 September, between 10 am and 2 pm at Reading College. For salad, the main collection is Thursday 29 September, between 10 am and 2 pm. The delivery area is at the rear of the college on Orts Road.

If these times are not convenient, you can email growers@readingtownmeal.org.uk to arrange an alternative.

Other donation collection points are the True Food Co-op at Emmer Green or, more convenient for Whitley Pump readers, at RISC on London Street during their opening hours.

About a thousand free cooked lunches will be served in the Forbury Gardens in the centre of Reading on 1 October 2016.  There are also stalls from local organisations active in sustainability, ecology and green issues, as well as a small traders’ market and children’s activities.
