Open for Art on Reading’s Cultural Heritage Trail

Open for Art 2015

Readipop at Open for Art 2015

Among the many artistic and cultural opportunities available this weekend as part of the Open for Art festival is a cultural heritage trail run by Readipop.

The Heritage Lottery funded project to create a trail has been developed by Readipop working with Reading Museum. The town centre tour starts from Town Hall Square at 1pm on Sunday 3 July. The event is FREE but booking is recommended.

Readipop say about the event:

Come and join us to find out something about Reading that you won’t hear anywhere else. We’ve got exclusive stories about Michael Bond’s marmalade cakes, Jane Austen’s school days and a scandal that captured the imagination of Victorian England.

Reading on Tour – Cultural Heritage Tour follows on from the first Reading on Tour, which was a musical heritage trail. This included town centre locations and some nearer the Whitley Pump such as the After Dark Club, RISC, the Great Hall of the University, the Rising Sun and South Street Arts Centre.

A downloadable map of Open for Art venues and information about the events is available from Jelly. Maps are also available from venues.
