Ben-Hur needs you!
Smile. Would you like to perform alongside stars such as from Mr Selfridge, Eastenders, Doctors and the acclaimed National Theatre performances of Othello and War Horse, amongst others?
Reading Rep are recruiting for their spectacular production of Ben-Hur at the Hexagon 1 – 3 September this year and are looking for adult and child supporting chorus members as well as speaking roles and non-speaking roles as follows:
Gaspar is one of the three wise men. This role needs a confident actor who will be playing alongside two professional actors, and only in the first scene.
Tiraz is Judah’s sister; she sings and is lively and fun, then is taken away by Messala and contracts leprosy, which is then cured.
Amrah is the mother of Zina and servant to the Ben-Hur family. She is no nonsense and needs a strong actor.
Miriam also gets taken away with Tiraz. She is a fair and good woman and her role needs a strong actor.
Hortator is a slave runner who keeps the beat on the slave ships. This is a small part for a big actor who will be acting alongside Quintas Arrius.
Muna has got rich through her horses and charioteers for the chariot races. The role needs a very strong actor.
Isra is Muna’s daughter and very pretty. She is feisty and in love with Messala. This role needs a very strong actor.
Interested? The deadline is 12 noon on Monday 27 June.
