London Street Surgery out of special measures

Former Reading Savings Bank, 72 London Street, Reading. Designed by John Billing and completed 1849.

London Street Surgery, the practice of Dr Essa and Dr Harrold, has been taken out of special measures by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Their rating has been upgraded from ‘inadequate’ to ‘requires improvement.’

The surgery was put into special measures in August 2015 but has since made “significant improvements.”

The CQC say that the practice is “good for providing effective and responsive services” but is “required to make further improvements.”

These required improvements include making sure changes are implemented after incidents, making sure action is taken after national safety and medicine alerts and making sure adequate recruitment checks are in place.

The full list of improvements, as well as improvements already made, are in the CQC report.
